The Performance Carbon business of Morgan Advanced Materials makes high-performance self-lubricating bearing and seal components, predominantly used in pumps, industrial and domestic, or other sealing applications.
We use advanced carbon/graphite, silicon carbide, alumina and zirconia materials to engineer lightweight, low-friction bearings and seals. These materials help solve the problems associated with the use of lubricants in extreme temperatures, corrosive or hygienic environments where access is restricted, and are engineered into products which provide customer-specific solutions.

Responsibilities:
Major Responsibilities:
Responsible for the production scheduling and inventory management of assigned product lines. Establish production schedules, analyze and project production line lead-times. Maintain and monitor proper inventory levels for all stock and non-stock items. Monitor and place replenishment orders regularly. Work to minimize obsolete and surplus inventory items. Assist in developing procedures for proper inventory control. Under general direction; determine objectives to be accomplished including procurement of most materials, supplies, equipment, services and raw materials required by the Dunn site. Conduct all purchasing activities in accordance with approved standards and in compliance with cost reduction objectives. Recommend changes to purchasing policy and procedure.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for the creation of a Master Production schedule and monitoring manufacturing capacity as well as the projected load.
- Interface with Sales, Engineering and Production personnel as issues arise regarding customer requirements.
- Responsible for planning and monitoring performance regarding commitments for all job orders to assure compliance to delivery dates and order acknowledgment schedules.
- Call conflicts of demand and capacity to the attention of management, especially Materials Management, Sales and Manufacturing, or others that need to participate in resolving the conflicts.
- Manage forecast consumption; understand the forecasting approach and its limitations.
- Execute production schedule policies, such as time fences, safety stocks and lot sizing.
- Maintain accuracy of Item Master planning files in accordance with computer operating procedures.
- Responsible for reviewing and acting upon order release, action messages from the system.
- Review and assist in managing lead time when necessary.
- Responsible for all purchases for the Dunn site.
- Recommend approval of new suppliers based on personal interviews, reputation of prospective supplier in accordance with Quality System requirements.
- Review supplier performance and maintain supplier relationships.
- Work with lead team to set/implement cost savings opportunities through procurement opportunities.
- Negotiate payment terms, expedite problem orders and maintain required inventory levels.
- Assist A/P in reviewing invoices that differ from purchase orders issued and resolve discrepancies, approve for payment.
- Review freight/utility invoices and approve for payment.
- Review all safety stock levels periodically.
- Creation of new items as necessary and determine proper set up of items to manage appropriate stocking levels.
- Resolve nonconformances with suppliers as required.
- Follow all Purchasing operating policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned or required.
Additional Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree, Associate Degree or Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and/or equivalent of five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Knowledge of business economics as related to the procurement of raw materials and supplies.
- Must be familiar with Microsoft Word-Processing and Spreadsheet (Excel) software
- Must be able to clearly present ideas and reports in written and verbal format
- Must be able to work well with subordinates, peers and superiors in all departments of the Company
- Must be able to work well with external contacts of the Company
- Must have good time management, planning and negotiation skills
- Must adhere to all Company policies
Physical Requirements:
- Must be capable of sitting and using a computer for the majority of an 8-hour workday.
- Must be able to lift 35 pounds.
- Must be capable of traveling within the US.
