Overview
Reporting to the Senior Purchasing Manager, the Buyer is responsible for applying best practices and strategies to perform purchasing activities and inventory analysis, to help maintain inventory levels required for effective production operation while upholding GKC quality standards.
Reporting to the Senior Purchasing Manager, the Buyer is responsible for applying best practices and strategies to perform purchasing activities and inventory analysis, to help maintain inventory levels required for effective production operation while upholding GKC quality standards.
What You"ll Do
- Place Purchase Orders for multiple raw materials and vendors
- Coordinate shipping logistics
- Review and identify any inventory issues, such as expired materials, inventory discrepancies, delivery delays, etc.
- Track vendor database and vendor performance score cards
- Maintain a raw materials database: price, lead time, terms, MOQ, contact info, etc
- Assist QA with CAPA investigations while upholding company quality standards
- Notify vendors of shipping/invoicing discrepancies
- Follow up with vendors in a timely manner via email and phone regarding PO acknowledgements and ship dates
- Provide analytical support, developing multiple KPI reports (Inventory Performance, Supplier Performance, Purchase Orders Monthly Expense, Inventory Valuation, etc)
- Ensure accuracy of inventory and receiving process
- Notify PMs of raw materials demand for customer-provided inventory on a weekly basis
- Other duties as assigned
What You"ll Need
- Bachelor"s Degree in Supply Chain or similar discipline, or equivalent work experience (5+ years)
- 2+ years proven experience in a procurement/supply chain role
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft and Google Suite products, particularly Excel
- High attention to detail and extremely process-oriented
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- ERP/MRP experience essential
- Previous experience in a Contract Manufacturing setting a plus
