About the Job
Job Summary:
Responsible for the procurement of all materials, repairs, and operations (MRO) supplies and services necessary in the support, upkeep, and repair of the company's operating needs. Buyer is responsible for the procurement of stockroom items.
Job Responsibilities:
- Quotes and purchases supplies for verified authorized personal in maintenance, repairs and operation, Expedite deliveries as required.
- Coordinate and establish blanket orders with selected MRO suppliers based upon volume of purchases and J.I.T deliveries.
- Negotiate contracts and orders with suppliers who have valid insurance coverage, signed Contractor Safety Policy, and any other American Trim supplier requirement. Review order requisitions, company contact information, and contracts for accuracy.
- Interview and select vendors for the procurement of materials and contract service, negotiating for the best price, delivery and service.
- Negotiate with vendors for adjustment and return of defective materials or duplicated shipments.
- Inform customers (requisitioners) of required lead times, most economical order quantities, and verify the product/service satisfies the need.
- Attend various association meetings, seminars, and related meetings to maintain contact with vendors and keep up to date on trends. Arrange sales presentations by suppliers for American Trim departments when information, product, or service offered, may benefit.
- Provide reports on suppliers, purchasers, items purchased, appropriate inventory levels and usefulness.
- Oversee inventories of both stock and excess items and report movement of items as required.
- Record and monitor cost savings made in MRO purchasing for the Ohio facilities.
- Assist and backup other Buyers as needed including entry of Non-Conforming Records (NCR)s, raw material usage, and price list information, etc.
- Negotiate and provide assistance on the uniform and mat program for Ohio facilities.
- Perform other job related duties as assigned.
Education, Skills and Experience:
- Associate's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent related experience
- Knowledge of basic inventory management and manufacturing workflow
- Ability to problem-solve, make sound judgments and decisions, and plan around schedules and lead time
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create reports and presentations
- Ability to follow established procedures without immediate supervision for various operations
