About the Job
Commercial Solar Field Service Technicians (Photovoltaic Repair) specialize in conducting inspection and corrective maintenance of photovoltaic (PV) solar panel systems, adhering to established procedures and prioritizing health, safety, and environmental compliance. Solar Panel Maintenance Technicians will be responsible for both internal and external inspection and maintenance of solar panels, inverters, and other PV components. Their tasks may include troubleshooting, testing, and repairing solar panels, as well as handling materials. Additionally, they may provide assistance in service and maintenance activities related to other solar energy system components and associated equipment.
Core Responsibilities:
- Must be able to work independently and in a team environment. Must be able to lead and give instruction to other employees supporting the project.
- Expected to be able to safely diagnose and troubleshoot active issues within the PV array from the module up to the inverter level and repair active positive/ negative ground faults in the field.
- Must be able to read schematics and understand how the configuration of the array directly applies to this information.
- Will be responsible for applying LOTO when necessary and ensuring that existing Kineticom protocols are adhered to.
- Additional low-level repairs may be required on a non-specific basis to include combiner box repairs/ modification/ replacement, module replacement and in-line string repair/ replacement. This may also include running new homerun cable from the inverter to the combiner box.
- Fluency of electrical meters, IV-Curve Tracing, Megger testing and properly take thermal imaging, 1500 vDC PV systems and power isolation of PV systems is required.
- Operate a motor vehicle safely and legally per the KINETICOM Renewables Employee Handbook and insurance requirements. Maintain KINETICOM Renewables company vehicle so that it is always clean, presentable, functional.

Core Experience
- 3-4+ years suitable employment experience; High aptitude and a strong work ethic is a must.
- Apply NFPA 70E/OSHA 10 training.
- Must be able to demonstrate electrical competency and an understanding of the PV Circuit in the field, inverter training is preferred.
- Fluency of electrical meters, IV-Curve Tracing, Megger testing and properly take thermal imaging, 1500 vDC PV systems and power isolation of PV systems is required.
- Experienced in using computers and other forms of equipment including Microsoft Suite and other IT platforms for reporting and tracking project progress.
Physical/Work Environment

- Lift and move equipment as needed (up to 50 pounds).
- Work in an indoor or outdoor environment in adverse weather conditions with blowing pollen, dust, and grasses.
- Be exposed to ambient temperatures while working outdoors.
