Job title: Cabinet Branch Manager
Salary: Base salary starting at $89k to $111k, depending on experience
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm
Location: Fife, Washington
The Location Manager is responsible for utilizing the company's FACE values, mission, and vision as guides to lead their employees and reach the location's goals. This is accomplished through servant leadership and managing of the team.
This position is also responsible for implementing operational strategies and objectives to ensure the location's goals. As a manager, this position is expected to be involved in their community in some fashion, set time aside for self-improvement, and always strive to be a better leader.
This position directly reports to the Regional Operations Manager (ROM). The Location Manager interacts daily with all employees and customers. This position interacts regularly with corporate employees (Central Purchasing Department, Account Management Team, Sales Managers, Human Resources, IT Department, and the PARR Leadership Team) as well as interacting regularly with vendor representatives and industry associates.
Qualifications
- 3 years prior supervisory/management experience-Preferably in Cabinets
- Knowledge of management principles, practices, and protocols
- Knowledge of purchasing principles, practices, and protocols
- Knowledge of home and commercial construction principles, practices, and protocols
- Knowledge of the effects of "market conditions" upon the wood products industry
- Ability to speak, write, and read English required
- Must be able to operate personal computer, smartphone, scanner, and any other equipment necessary for the job
- Must be able to type 30+ WPM
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Class C driver's license or reliable alternative transportation required
- Willingness to commute and/or relocate
- Ability to identify a broad range of building product materials, their grades, allowable tolerances, and application techniques
Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership
- Supervise and direct the workforce at the location
- Identify and respond to the need for personnel changes at the location
- Manage day-to-day activities of employees from other departments assigned to your location
- Continually evaluate and, as necessary, encourage change in the policies and procedures related to operations
- Promote, support, and utilize other divisions under PARR's umbrella for the good of the whole
- Support and follow PARR's brand standards
- Recognize opportunities for improvement, turn that quickly into decisive, confident, and proactive action
- Coach and delegate financial reporting, striving to build business acumen with team
- When faced with challenges, demonstrate FACE values and works through problems with a solution orientation
People Development
- Identify and articulate performance expectations to employees
- Create and maintain a well-rounded staff through cross training, open communication, and continuing education
- Utilize the Parr University program and supports the training ecosystem, providing adequate time and space for participants regardless of business volume
- Follow and utilize company attendance policy as a tool
- Ensure that all new hires complete the 90-day new hire schedule appropriately and attend new hire orientation
- Utilize performance plans as a tool as needed, utilizes ROM
- Understand enough of each position to teach as well as substitute when needed
- Clear about benefits and how a person could/should use them
- Work with every individual to create a career plan for themselves
- Delegate tasks effectively, creating trust in team by sharing and following up, not micromanaging
Business
- Achieve location's annual profit projections
- Ensure merchandising programs are implemented
- Continually update product knowledge and selling techniques
- Maintain corporate guidelines and criteria for customer service
- Ensure an appropriate level of inventory is maintained at the facility to handle volume, working with both sales and purchasing teams to forecast increases or decreases in volume
- Complete 24-month Dead Stock write-down per company policy
- Train and lead the inventory management team at the location and trains them in applicable tasks of Cycle Counting, Negative QTY research, adjustments, and SPC report management
- Lead the 6-week physical inventory preparation cycle and complete the weekly checklists
- Prepare, monitor, and control annual budget for the location
- Ensure equipment operators are trained in all aspects of safe and efficient vehicle use, as well as properly completing daily pre/post trip inspections
- Promptly call/email the support teams back when they reach out
- Walk new hires through benefit enrollment and know eligibility basics
- Work with HR on clear and effective PINs and Reviews
- Hire and onboard correctly and timely with all proper processes and paperwork
- Report all accidents/incidents promptly using PARR standard procedures
- Complete preventative maintenance for all equipment in accordance with Fleet Manager guidelines and notify them of issues affecting fleet safety, performance, or Customer support
- Ensure vendors are providing service in-line with the negotiated service. Notify fleet ROM if not
- Understand the definition of a Resolved and an Unresolved Variance, and uses knowledge to improve results
- Special order report is maintained as outlined by Company policy
- Negative quantity report is consistently maintained in a manner that occurrences are measured in lines rather than pages
- Dead stock is dealt with proactively prior to the 24-month deadline in a manner that results in the highest return possible to the Company
- Review daily and monthly reports to identify and correct problems in a timely manner related to invoicing, inventory, payroll (hours of service), and sales transactions
- Arrange community involvement for the yard by becoming involved with organizations that focus on improving areas of the community
Results
- Maintain facility and fleet to PARR's brand standards
- Complete budget to actuals monthly
- Achieve budgeted bottom line, consistently and demonstrably strives for financial improvement
- Manage operating expenses closely to the approved budget
- Understand health index and takes action to improve results
- Communicate and shares On-Time/In-Full metrics with the entire team for continuous improvement
- Utilize employee survey scores to create and maintain a consistent high level of employee engagement and improvement
- Exhibit a strong employee retention pattern, measured by being above company average for a similar location
- Perform other related duties as assigned
The location manager works in an office with a computer, on the retail floor of the location, occasionally will visit job sites.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to work indoors in a normal office environment for an entire day
- Must be able to grasp, talk, hear, and operate a computer and keyboard
- Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds and carry objects 50 feet
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Must be able to drive a vehicle when necessary
- Both local and overnight travel may be required
