General Description
Assists Director of Food Services with all operational and administrative aspects of Food Service with an emphasis on CACFP requirements. This position also provides support by working as Kitchen Manager or Chef’s Assistant as needed.
Reporting Relationship
The CACFP Kitchen Manager reports to the Director of Food Services.
Supervises
The CACFP Kitchen Manager will assist in the supervision of all other food service staff, clients, volunteers or interns in the kitchen to ensure food is stored, prepared and served per guidelines.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Assists in creating menus, ordering, stocking and organizing kitchen and food storage areas by properly accepting deliveries or processing donations.
- Ensures that food inventory is properly rotated and cycled according to State Health Department guidelines and standards while best utilizing with as little waste as possible.
- Has knowledge and ability to perform cooking techniques using various types of kitchen equipment and tools.
- Attends CACFP trainings and monitors website for program changes.
- Assists in data collection and processing for Grant reporting using Excel.
- Fills shifts when the Kitchen Manager or Chef’s Assistant are absent.
- Prepares YWCA for CACFP review using Indiana Department of Education list of Daily, Monthly and Annual CACFP record keeping requirements.
- Communicate with Finance Department, Childcare Staff and Clients to properly execute CACFP funding requirements.

Required Experience:
Education and Experience
- High school certificate of completion, diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Must complete universal precautions, CPR, and First Aid within 3 months of employment.
Knowledge and Ability
- Basic knowledge of computers, printers, spreadsheets and word documents.
- Able to work independently and communicate well verbally and in writing.
- Is a good team player, works well with others and exercises good judgment when dealing with client situations and complaints.
- Must be reliable and dependable.
Physical Demands of Position
This position includes duties that require bending, lifting, reaching and turning. CACFP Kitchen Manager must be able to handle food items in containers (weighing up to 50 lbs.) to and from walk-ins and dry storage areas and is able to stand up to 8 hours or longer.
