Job Summary:
The CAD/BIM Technician will coordinate and generate fully detailed drawings with the Design Manager and other team members. This position reports directly to the Design Manager and must be proficient in the following disciplines:
- Civil Design – 2D and 3D design of physical perimeter security applying crash-rated passive and active vehicle barriers, fence, gates, and the signage and pavement markings that go along with them.
- Structural Design – Cast-in-place concrete foundations and fabricated steel structures.
- Mechanical Design – Hydraulic and electrically actuated mechanisms to control operated barriers and gates.
- Electrical Design – Coordinate with Systems Engineering to create conduit plans and integrate system interconnect diagrams into overall plan sets.
- Prepare 2D CAD drawings (plans, profiles, sections, and details) for construction documents based on input and guidance from design, construction, maintenance, and systems engineering staff and in accordance with internal drafting standards.
- Prepare 3D CAD/BIM models for conveying the design of complex features or structures.
- Work directly with the Design Manager to interpret drawing markups and clash detection results for development or revision of the product
- Communicate and collaborate internally and/or externally with other disciplines for design and model changes.
- Self-check created drawings, sketches, and related data to proactively identify factors that may negatively affect final product.
- Maintain drawing files, CAD standards and other digital files in accordance with internal procedures.
- Participate in training to develop and implement new skills related to the various disciplines of work.
- Perform training of other technical staff on drafting standards, requirements, best practices, and procedures.
- Review contract documents to understand design requirements.
Skillset:
- Proficiency with the latest version of AutoCAD, , Revit and Navisworks including experience in developing models, drawing packages, and figures from base data (i.e. base map, survey, GIS, point cloud, engineering sketches, etc.) and based on engineering input and guidance.
- Experience in other software is desirable, including SolidWorks.
- A minimum of 4 or more years of drafting/design experience at a consulting engineering firm, production design organization, or construction contractor.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong math background
- Detail Oriented
- Problem solving skills
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Work independently and capable of self-checking for completeness and accuracy of work produced

- Must have physical condition and stamina sufficient to prolonged periods of walking or standing, assist in lifting, carrying and moving objects weighing up to 100 pounds, with hearing and eyesight acuity to detect machinery noises, read gauges, measurements and properly use equipment provided.
- Shop and job site conditions vary with the seasons and type of work being conducted. Must be willing and able to work in extreme temperatures (below freezing and in excess of 100*F) and in dangerous/hazardous environments that are commonly encountered in this industry.
