Position Summary
The primary duties of the CAD Designer/CAD Technician are to serve in a technical support role in the engineering development of urban and rural highway/bridge/environmental projects. Primary duties will focus on computer-aided design and contract plan development using Autodesk AutoCAD and/or Bentley Microstation software. Projects and tasks may include geometric layout for urban and rural highway and intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, environmental permitting support, utility/energy, concept design plans, pedestrian and bicycle facility projects. Duties will also include following company and/or client CAD standards.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Engineers to successfully deliver quality designs and products for clients daily
- Complete quality products for each specific client and agency
- Deliver quality projects in accordance with schedule and budget
- Work independently on multiple projects with independent deadlines
- Learn all agencies’ CAD standards and submittal requirements
- Possess good communication skills, and able to work in a fast-paced team environment
Key Requirements, Skills and Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Associate’s degree in computer Aided Drafting and Design preferred but not required
- 0 to 10+ years of CAD design experience
- Working knowledge Autodesk AutoCAD and/or Bentley Microstation software, Microsoft Office and other computer software programs are a plus
- Working knowledge in AutoCAD Civil3D and Microstation OpenRoads Designer are a plus
- Previous Maryland Transportation experience is a plus
- Willing and capable of performing occasional field work
- General math skills and ability to read blueprints and plans
- Knowledge of, or ability to learn, transportation design elements, standards, and constructability methods
- Motivation and self-drive required to complete a task and enjoy challenging work
- Have a valid driver’s license
