CAD DESIGNER (Metal Container Fabricator)
Summary:
The Designer will prepare drawings for multiple customers using standards specific to those customers. The drawings will be created using Autodesk Inventor 3-D modeling software and AutoCAD Mechanical. This is a full-time position.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare drawings under the direction of engineers & designers.
- Perform 3-D modeling of sheet metal parts and assemblies.
- Research and specify parts using information from the internet and other sources.
- Prepare detailed bills of materials for drawings.
- Convert drawings from one CAD package to another.
- Maintain revision control of drawings and maintain control of non-CAD documents of record.
- Organize electronic project files relating to design and drawings on the computer network.
- Perform material take-offs and prepare concept drawings for quotes.
- Input B.O.M. data into Syteline ERP System for design release.
Skills & Abilities Required:
- Must be proficient in Autodesk INVENTOR and VAULT
- Must be proficient in AutoCAD Mechanical.
- Must be willing to learn and work in additional CAD systems as required.
- Must be able to adapt to specific standards to meet customer requirements.
- ANSI Y14.2, Y14.3 & Y14.5 experience
- Must be able to work on several projects at the same time and be flexible.
- Able to use excel spreadsheets and word documents
- Able to research the internet to find part models
- Possess good communication skills (oral and written)
Minimum Level of Preparation and Training Required
(QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE):
- Associate degree or minimum 2 years practical job experience instead of degree
- Mechanical drafting experience necessary, electrical & hydraulic experience a plus
- Prefer 2 years minimum experience but will consider a new graduate
