Reports To: Food Services Manager; Food Services Director
Job Goal: To serve students attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness and friendliness.
Physical and Cognitive Requirements
Work in this classification is considered heavy physical work requiring the exertion of 50 or more pounds of force frequently, and up
to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects; long periods of standing
Must be able to:
- walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, and crouch
- noise, vibrations, job hazards and atmospheric conditions
- visually inspect small defects and/or small items
- use a variety of measuring devices
- operate kitchen equipment and tools
- determine the accuracy and thoroughness of work
- observe general surroundings and activities for safety
- hear sufficiently to accurately perceive information at normally spoken word levels
- use communication by means of spoken word to express or exchange ideas
Mission and Goals
- Works with the Superintendent and Director of Food Services to promote the school system’s vision of learning and teaching
Performance Responsibilities
- Performs efficiently and effectively all tasks assigned in relation to preparation of food, serving of food, cleaning all areas of the kitchen, and/or other assigned duties in the time allotted.
- Attends training meetings, as required.
- Reports to work at designated time and remains on the job until dismissed by the Food Services Manager.
- Notifies manager at the earliest possible time when unable to work
- Maintains pleasant working relations with fellow employees by demonstrating consideration for others, patience, respect, self-control and other desirable character traits.
- Maintains desirable relations between school and community.
- Follows all policies of the School Board and instructions of the manager relating to safety measures, sanitation practices, personal standards, work techniques, and methods of performing duties.
- Performs duties involved in the safe preparation and handling of food, cleaning and sanitizing of equipment and facilities, serving of food, cashiering and recordkeeping.
- Reports to work at another kitchen, if required.
- Performs any other tasks as required by the Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, the Director of Food Services, and the Superintendent’s designee
Terms of Employment: Ten month work schedule. Salary established by the Board.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on
Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
