Position Description
As a Calibration Engineer, you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities:
- Provide daily training to team members as necessary.
- Calibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment accordingly.
- Maintain primary calibration standards.
- Gather, compile, measure, summarize, and document data obtained during calibration.
- Recognize any conditions that fall outside acceptable tolerance levels.
- Prepare calibration reports and certificates.
- Educate other team members on calibration principles and practices.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the laboratory.
- Offer technical guidance to other departments within the organization.
- Examine and assess new calibration standards for proper operation before they are approved for use in the Calibration laboratory.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Calibrate inspection, measurement, and testing equipment in one of the following areas — electrical, dimensional, or physical/mechanical — to guarantee compliance.
- Work closely with Automation, Engineering, and Energy Departments on specialized R&D projects.
- Utilize engineering expertise for the design and advancement of calibration techniques and fixtures.
- Develop, implement, and uphold the quality system for the Calibration Department in accordance with established standards and guidelines.
- Manage and develop electrical Calibration instructions as necessary to reduce the reliance on external calibration services when applicable.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- May support and collaborate with the Maintenance department.
- Recommend reference standards for use in calibration applications.
- Develop new and update existing Calibration instructions according to detailed specifications, drawings, and other technical requirements.
- Generate corrective action reports for non-conforming equipment.
- Assist in enhancing the ERP system as required.
- Design and document measurement reference material for laboratory use.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
Working Relationships:
- Works closely with all team members of the Calibration and Maintenance Departments.
- Works with all departments that affect quality at Applied Medical and Applied Manufacturing.
- Works with all engineering teams on various projects.
