Job Summary:
The Technician is responsible for the repair, calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of high-end Test & Measurement (T&M) equipment. The technician will work with a wide variety of equipment, including but not limited to: oscilloscopes, signal generators, power meters, spectrum analyzers, RF, EMC, and other precision instruments. This role involves diagnosing issues, performing component-level repairs, and ensuring that equipment meets manufacturers' specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
· Repair and Calibration: Perform in-depth repairs and calibration on a wide range of T&M equipment, ensuring all devices meet accuracy and performance standards.
· Develops calibration procedures: Identify and correct measurement errors, performs uncertainty evaluation and measurements.
· Troubleshooting: Diagnose malfunctioning equipment down to the component level, utilizing schematic diagrams, service manuals, and other technical resources.
· Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to prolong equipment lifespan and minimize downtime, ensuring equipment meets manufacturer specification.
· Documentation: Maintain accurate records of repairs, calibrations, and maintenance activities using internal systems.
· Collaboration: Work closely with other technicians, Sales, and managers to prioritize and complete repair and maintenance tasks.
· Quality Control: Ensure all repaired and calibrated equipment meets stringent quality standards before returning to customers or inventory.
· Compliance: Stay updated on industry standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols related to T&M equipment.
Qualifications:
· Education: Associate degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field. A bachelor's degree and/or ASQ Certified a plus.
· Experience: 5+ years of experience in bench repair and calibration of T&M equipment. Hands-on experience with RF, microwave, or related instruments is highly desirable. Understanding of Uncertainties.
· Technical Skills:
· Proficient in using electronic testing equipment.
· Strong understanding of circuit theory and component-level troubleshooting.
· Familiarity with calibration standards and practices (ISO 17025 is a plus).
· Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for documentation and customer interactions.
· Problem-solving: Ability to solve complex technical problems and think critically under pressure.
Work Environment:
· Works in the Calibration lab, bench setting.
· May require occasional lifting of equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years' calibration experience in a commercial lab preferred
- Strong knowledge of electronic theory
- TMDE/PMEL certified or Associates degree in Electronic Technologies
- Proficient use in MET/TEAM and MUDCATS software
