About the Job
Shift: 2nd Shift Monday - Friday 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm plus overtime.
General Purpose:
The CAM operator is responsible for producing high-quality parts and materials. The CAM operator will ensure machines are set up correctly, load material, monitor the machine during operation, and perform quality control checks on the finished parts. The goal is to produce accurate and precise parts according to the specifications provided.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and operate CAM machines.
- Understand the specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings, etc.
- Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments for better results.
- Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly.
- Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality.
- Operate machine, and perform machine start-up procedures.
- Conduct regular checks and maintenance on machinery to ensure functionality.
- Performs technical end-of-shift duties, end-of-job procedures, and housekeeping procedures.
- Observes safety policies including personal protective equipment requirements and hazardous/emergency procedures.
- Follow instructions from supervisors to perform tasks.
- Must be able to cross-train in multiple departments as needed.
- Sort materials and transfer to designated locations at the job site.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education/Experience: 1-3 years of proven experience as a CAM Swiss Machine Operator. Previous experience in a manufacturing shop environment or similar role. High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Mathematical Skills: Basic math skills required.
Language Skills: Will be required to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos, to write correspondence, memos, and schedule; to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guests, clients, and fellow staff.
Physical Demands:
- Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
- Prolonged periods of standing.
- Occasional periods of walking and standing.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 - 40 pounds at a time.
- Occasionally climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crawls or crouches.
- Consistently turning and moving of hands, arms, feet, and legs.
Environment/Noise: Most work is performed indoors. Some work may be performed outside in all types of weather. Is exposed to noise, vibration, dust, oil, solvents, dirt, and fumes, and odors that may affect the eyes, ears, nose, throat and or skin.

- Skill in operating CNC Swiss precision machinery and tooling and precision measurement tools.
