Design Your Future – Academic Support Coordinator
This is a full-time, exempt, staff position. The Design Your Future program serves academic needs of incoming traditional undergraduate students at the Miller Park Way Center. The Academic Support Coordinator conducts student recruitment, admission, academic advising and enrichment activities for students in the Design Your Future (DYF) program at the Miller Park Way location in Wisconsin. The individual will be working with an underserved population of college freshmen and sophomores in recruitment through obtaining an Associate's degree in Liberal Arts, Business Management, Criminal Justice and Elementary Education. This position reports to the DYF Program Director.
Responsibilities
- Student recruitment and admissions support including making presentations to prospective and new students
- Academic advising and student support
- Works with students to develop proficiency in a variety of subject areas, critical thinking and analytical skills
- Relationship management with area high schools and community groups
- Coordinating student retention activities, organizing study groups and coordinating student skill workshops
- Coordinating Student Ambassador (SA) and organizing student community service activities
- Monitoring and facilitating social media regarding the DYF program and students
- Other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to succeed in a fast pace environment with minimal supervision and maintain a schedule
- Excellent organizational abilities, professional written and oral communication skills
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Knowledge and skill in the use of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Access and Word and academic software
- Skill in speaking to groups and making presentations
- Knowledge and skill in managing Social Media Accounts such as Facebook, Twitter, etc.
- Available some evenings and weekends as needed
Education, Experience and Training
A Bachelor's Degree and two or more years of experience in teaching reading and writing or a closely related field is required. Professional communication skills including public speaking are required. A Master's Degree and tutoring experience is preferred. Experience in sales or student recruitment is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time position. Starting range is dependent upon on individual qualifications and experience.
