Position Summary:
The Security Department is seeking a Security Team Member. This position upholds rules and regulations while ensuring the safety of the High Point University campus community.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or GED required
Experience/Training:
- Minimum 1-year applicable security, law enforcement, military or 3 years of customer service experience within the last five years
- Minimum 18 years of age
- No felony convictions
- No motor vehicle moving violations within the past year and no alcohol-related convictions within the past 5 year
- Acceptable credit history
- Valid North Carolina Driver License
Knowledge, Skills, Ability:
- Ability to pass a physical agility test, drug screening, medical and psychological assessment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products
- Ability and willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays
- Ability to work in a physically active work environment
- Ability to work effectively and productively in a group/team environment
- Effective interpersonal and customer service skills
- Write acceptable reports
Essential Functions:
- Upholds and enforces HPU rules and regulations in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and Staff Handbooks
- Ensures the safety and security of the campus/buildings
- Responds to emergency calls and reports of crimes
- Conducts routine patrols of campus
- Conducts fire inspections
- Maintains positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating effectively with students, students, parents, faculty, co-workers and managers
- Documents unusual occurrences and incidents
- Investigates violations/crimes
- Assists/Liaison with HPPD et al LEOs
- Clery compliance
- Physical security design, implementation and operations
- Assist with building unlocks for students, staff and faculty
- Responds to emergency calls and reports of crimes
- Conducts routine mobile, bike and foot patrols of campus
- Transports students for medical and non-medical needs
- Emergency “first responder” for aid and comfort
- Medical aid, e.g. AED, CPR, Narcan
- Motor vehicle assists with minor vehicle needs of students, to wit: gas refills, tire inflation and vehicle unlocks
- Identifies and reports safety hazard
- Ensures all fire panels and alarms are working properly and report any interruptions or communication problems
- Directs traffic on campus
- Parking management and enforcement
- Assists with special events
- Reports lighting and equipment outages and maintenance problems
- Perimeter protection to include vetting of incoming parties
- Executive protection
- Security personnel profession development
- Other duties as assigned
