Responsibilities
Job Summary:
This job is responsible for providing administrative support (under technical oversight of the certified Cancer Registrars) for cancer registry activities in accordance with established procedures and applicable regulatory requirements. An incumbent is responsible for performing work activities such as case finding, researching missing or unusual information, running reports, prepares materials and providing clerical support for tumor boards and other conferences. Case finding and research includes reviewing patient medical information, such as coding summaries, pathology reports, and other medical data. Work includes contacting providers and conducting follow-up of Cancer Registry cases. Work also includes supporting the Cancer Registry by performing general clerical/administrative tasks as assigned.
Essential Duties:
+ Supports the certified Cancer Registrars by performing case finding activities in order to maintain a complete cancer registry database.
+ Performs follow-up activities according to established procedures to ensure compliance with the CoC standards and requirements.
+ Conducts information searches, accessing a variety of resources to find missing/incorrect/incomplete treatment and/or related data as requested.
+ Supports Tumor Board/Case Conference activities in accordance with established procedures.
+ Provides general administrative/clerical support for the department, including supporting cancer committee, staging or other registry forms, assembling materials, mailing/faxing letters and similar tasks.
Qualifications
Education/Work Experience Requirements
Associates degree with emphasis on medical records/health care preferred, and a minimum of 2 years Healthcare experience required, Oncology experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification
Certified Tumor Registrar certification eligible (education requirements) preferred.
Pay Range
$20.71 - $28.48 /hour
