Job Summary:
The Canyon Main Street Coordinator is responsible for managing and implementing the Canyon
Main Street program, with a focus on enhancing and revitalizing Canyon's historic downtown
area. This role oversees the program's daily operations, including event planning, community
engagement, downtown improvement projects, and collaboration with local businesses. The
coordinator also manages volunteer efforts, marketing, and fundraising strategies to support the
program's goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Ability to work in the United States
• Valid Texas driver's license, or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of employment
• Bachelor's degree in public administration, business, marketing, graphic design, or
related field or 5 years of experience is a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in graphic design, branding, and promotional material
development.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Essential Responsibilities:
Program Management
• Oversee the development and implementation of strategies that improve business
vitality, preserve historic spaces, and create community engagement in the Main Street
District.
• Ensure compliance with all Main Street (State/National) program procedures and
reporting requirements.
• Provide regular updates and reports to the Main Street Board and City of Canyon,
meeting program deadlines.
• Provide continuous support and training to the Main Street Board, to ensure effective
program operation and goal achievement.
Marketing & Promotion
• Communicate program goals, project updates, and events to local businesses, community
groups, media outlets, and the public.
• Develop branded, visually appealing promotional materials for marketing campaigns.
• Draft clear and concise project progress reports for stakeholders and the community.
• Create and implement fundraising strategies, including sponsorships, grants, and
partnerships to support the Canyon Main Street program.
Community Outreach
• Engage with local leaders, community groups, and organizations to foster collaboration
and expand program reach.
• Represent Canyon Main Street and the City of Canyon professionally at public meetings,
presentations, and events.
• Maintain continuity of established events while developing new, innovative concepts that
increase community participation and economic impact.
Project Development & Implementation
• Manage and facilitate downtown improvement projects that align with the Main Street
mission.
• Represent Canyon Main Street at City meetings, advocating for project funding and
community engagement.
• Collaborate with the CEDC on business recruitment, retention, and development within
the Main Street District and throughout Canyon.
• Recruit, manage, and maintain volunteers for Main Street committees and activities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge:
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or similar graphic
design tools.
• Strong knowledge of downtown revitalization, historic preservation, and Main Street
principles.
• Experience in managing volunteers, coordinating community events, and collaborating
with boards.
• Fundraising practices
Skills:
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Skilled in social media management and digital content creation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong fundraising skills
Abilities:
• Ability to work collaboratively with community leaders, boards, and local organizations.
• Demonstrated ability in fundraising and sales, particularly securing sponsorships, and
partnerships.

The Canyon Main Street Program Coordinator position requires the ability to perform physically
demanding tasks, including standing or walking for extended periods during events, lifting and
carrying materials up to 25 pounds, setting up event equipment such as tents and signage, and
performing manual tasks related to event setup and teardown. The coordinator must also be
able to work in various weather conditions and occasionally work evenings and weekends to
support community activities and events.
WORK SCHEDULE:
The Canyon Main Street Program Coordinator position is a full-time role with a standard 40-hour
work week, typically Monday through Friday. However, the position also requires flexibility, with
occasional evening and weekend responsibilities to support and attend after-hours events,
community activities, and special programs as needed.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The Canyon Main Street Program Coordinator will work primarily in an office environment but
will also spend a significant amount of time outside the office coordinating events, attending
meetings, and interacting with community members and stakeholders. The work environment
may involve outdoor settings for events, which could include varying weather conditions. The
role requires adaptability to both quiet office settings and fast-paced, dynamic environments
during community events, with occasional interruptions and a need for multitasking to meet
deadlines and support various activities.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Out-of-town travel, for the position, is considered minimal. There may be occasional travel
required for training and certification maintenance. Local travel may be required to obtain
supplies and attend meetings/events.
