About the Job
The Car Mechanic - Dealership Inspections Specialist is responsible for assessing vehicle conditions through detailed inspections and performing necessary repairs to ensure our inventory meets the dealership’s standards. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in vehicle inspections, diagnostics, and mechanical repairs, along with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pre-Sale Inspections: Conduct comprehensive inspections on incoming vehicles to assess their mechanical, electrical, and cosmetic condition. Identify necessary repairs or reconditioning to ensure they are fit for sale.
- Post-Sale Inspections: Perform final checks on vehicles sold to verify they meet all customer and dealership requirements.
- Condition Assessments: Examine vehicle systems, including engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, electrical, and safety features, to provide a full condition report.
- Diagnostics and Repair: Utilize diagnostic tools to identify mechanical issues and conduct required repairs or recommend solutions. Perform routine maintenance, such as oil changes, brake service, and tire replacements.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure every vehicle meets dealership quality standards, including any necessary cleaning and detailing before it’s ready for customer delivery.
- Documentation and Reporting: Accurately document findings, repairs, and status of each vehicle inspected. Communicate inspection results and recommendations to sales and management teams.
- Customer Interaction: Occasionally explain repair findings and vehicle conditions to customers to build trust and transparency.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of [2-3] years as a mechanic, preferably with dealership experience or in-depth knowledge of dealership vehicle standards.
- Technical Knowledge: Proficiency with vehicle inspection tools, diagnostic equipment, and repair processes. Familiarity with dealership inspection protocols is highly desirable.
- Certification: ASE or relevant automotive certifications are preferred.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Communication: Ability to clearly communicate inspection findings to colleagues and customers.
