Introduction: Aspen Medical has an exciting opportunity for Cardiac Anesthesiologists to partner with us in providing temporary contracted medical services to Veterans Hospital throughout the United States, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. Location: United States, New York, NY.
Responsibilities:
Cardiac Anesthesiologist specialize in providing anesthesia and care for patients undergoing cardiac, thoracic, or vascular surgery.
- Monitoring and restoration of homeostasis during the perioperative period, as well as homeostasis in the critically ill, injured, or otherwise seriously ill patient.
- Assessment of, consultation for, and preparation of patients for anesthesia including pre-operative patient exam and assessment.
- Supervision, teaching, and evaluation of performance of both medical and paramedical personnel in anesthesia, respiratory, and critical care.
- Provision of insensibility to pain during surgical, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures and the management of patients so affected.
- Clinical management and teaching of cardiac and pulmonary resuscitation. Evaluation of respiratory function and application of respiratory therapy in all its forms.
- Conduct of research and collaboration in research efforts at the clinical and basic science level to proactively identify gaps in evidence and practice, then measure the impact of filling these gaps and linking evidence to practice.
- Participates in in-service training programs and maintains competencies.
- On-call coverage is required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:
- United States Citizenship.
- Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
- Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of the Veterans Affairs in Anesthesiology in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
- The American Heart Association (AHA) BLS and ACLS required.
- The candidate should have completed an accredited Anesthesiology program in the United States and be board certified/Board Eligible by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA).
- Minimum of two years of current experience, 3 years preferred.
- DEA Required. NPI must be Submitted.
- Cardiac Fellowship Trained (TAVR Expertise/Experienced).
- Cardiac Surgery Certification (Preferred).
- English Language Proficiency. Spanish Language is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to walk, stand, and bend for 6-8 hours per day.
- Able to distinguish between basic colors.
- Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers in stressful situations.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation and undergo urine drug testing.
