- JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
- Performs clerical and administrative duties to support department staff including general office work and coordination of the discharge planning and utilization review processes.
- DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
- The social services teams provide direct services to clients, impart information and make referrals, screen and assess clients, and intervene in crisis situations most often in their area of practice. We are an integral part of the multidisciplinary team, working closely with doctors, nurses and other medical professionals.
- EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Two (2) years college level education in a healthcare related field and/or experience in a position of similar responsibility and complexity in a medical setting required.
- Experience and/or training with computer applications required.
- KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Clerical: Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
- Communication: Proficient communication skills in dealing with employees, customers and external organizations. Ability to show tact and professionalism in dealing with a variety of people and to communicate and listen effectively in an appropriate and positive manner.
- Customer Service: Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Computer Literacy: Proficient computer skills in department applications.
- Time Management: Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work to complete within required time frames and to follow-up on pending issues. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in dynamic fast-paced environments and under pressure.
- Confidentiality: Knowledge of State and Federal (HIPAA) laws pertaining to confidentiality of protected health information. Ability to comply with laws and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
