Compensation: $28/hour
Location: Bronx, NY
Schedule: Flexible Shifts (Fieldwork between the Bronx and Harlem areas)

Responsibilities as the Career Development Specialist:

• Career Support: Provide 1:1 career and academic support, connecting participants to schools, programs, and resources.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with Case Managers, Housing Navigators, and Social Workers.
• Workshops: Facilitate workshops on employment, education, and life skills.
• Planning: Help participants with post-secondary planning, including college applications and financial aid.
• Job Assistance: Aid participants in job applications, internships, and career pathways.

Qualifications for the Career Development Specialist:

• Education: Bachelor's degree required.
• Experience: 2 years of experience working with at-risk youth.
• Knowledge: Familiarity with NYC Dept. of Education and college application processes.
• Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Techniques: Proficient in motivational interviewing and trauma-informed care.
• Awareness: Clear insight into the needs of young adults facing homelessness, the LGBTQ community, and sensitivity to ethnic and cultural differences.
