Southland Holdings is currently accepting resumes for highly motivated skilled workers to join our team as a Carpenter in Carrollton, TX at our Water Utility Project.
Duties:
• Experience setting forms, tying rebar, pouring and finishing concrete, using string line for line and level, able to read rebar and form drawings.
• Build Forms for Box Culverts, Curbs and Roads
• Load/Unload materials.
• Mark cutting lines on materials, using pencil and scriber.
• Build job-specific wood forms. Assemble commercially-available form systems.
• Assemble and fasten material together to construct wood or metal framework of structure, using bolts, nails, or screws-Set and tie steel, as required.
• Erect and wreck all forms.-Pour, grade and finish concrete.
• Shovel dirt, gravel, asphalt. Perform general housekeeping. Clean-up job site.
• Check and maintain grade stakes and other survey markings.
• Maintain equipment and tools.
• Enter confined spaces, as required.
• Measure materials or distances, using square, measuring tape, or rule to lay out work-Operate a man-lift.
• Provide flagging and direction to Crane Operators.
• Cut or saw boards, timbers, or plywood to required size, using handsaw, power saw, or woodworking machine.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to sit stand for extended periods of time while operating equipment or using tools.
• Employee will bend, lift, climb, kneel, or squat while moving or lifting heavy materials, forms or equipment.
• Employee will be exposed to extreme temperatures and conditions such as dirt, dust, fumes and noises while working on construction sites.
• Employee may be exposed to mechanical, chemical, electrical or fire hazards while preforming welding or carpentry duties.
Requirements:
• 5 years related experience.
• Must work in all weather conditions. Both extreme heat and cold.
• Must be physically capable of navigating rugged terrain for the purpose of performing duties outlined above.
• Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 50-90 pounds personally, and up to 150 pounds with assistance.
Desired qualifications:
• 5 Years related experience
• OSHA safety training and a current First Aid and CPR certificate
