The Carpenter Foreman is responsible for designing and planning, technical expertise, supervision and management, compliance and safety, and tool and equipment management at Lallie Kemp Medical Center.
This is a full-time position located in the Facility Maintenance department.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Four years of experience in the carpentry trade
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Training in the carpentry trade will substitute for a maximum of two years of the required experience on a month for month basis.
Job Concepts
Function of Work:
To provide supervision, guidance, support and limited administration to a group of Carpenters and/or Carpenter Masters performing journeyman level carpentry work.
Level of Work:
Supervisor.
Supervision Received:
Broad review from a maintenance supervisor or agency official of higher grade.
Supervision Exercised:
Direct line supervision is exercised over Carpenters, Carpenters Master and Apprentices.
Location of Work:
All agencies; statewide.
Job Distinctions:
Differs from those of Carpenter and Carpenter Master in that it exercises full time supervision over the required subordinates as well as designing, estimating, supporting, and overseeing carpentry projects.
Differs from the more senior jobs because of its first line carpentry supervisory duties.
Examples of Work
Assigns and inspects the work of journeyman Carpenters, Carpenters Master, Apprentices and Helpers.
Oversees the repair, alteration, or maintenance of buildings and all wood constructed structures, permanent and temporary.
Oversees the building and repairing of shelves, cabinets, furniture, trim, partitions, etc.
Inspects damaged buildings, structures and reviews new plans to determine materials and time required to estimate the cost of repairs or construction.
Requisitions materials.
Updates and files time and cost records of all projects. Reads and interprets blueprints. Performs limited administrative functions: leave approval, time sheets, etc.
Evaluates subordinates work performance.
