Job Description & Duties
The position of Carpenter/laborer is an important one at Stockell Custom Homes. It is the Carpenters and laborers who put it all together and make our clients happy because of the work that they do. Every Carpenter who works for Stockell Custom Homes should be passionate about their work and always strive to do better. Below is a list of the responsibilities of a Carpenter/laborer at Stockell Custom Homes.
- Log time into the portal through the app on your smartphone. Always arrive early.
- Make sure the job site is kept clean and free of debris.
- Make sure the site has a broom, dustpan, and trash bags and/or trash cans.
- Make sure the dumpsters are loaded properly to maximize space break down boxes and make sure everything is lying flat and in line.
- Maintain Personal and Company tools.
- Make sure tools, ladders, equipment, etc. are secured at the end of the day.
- Keep materials organized and stacked neatly out of the way.
- Sweep the job site each day, do not leave piles of debris laying around.
- Make sure that all site protection is installed properly and is in place each day.
- Unload delivery trucks and bring materials to the site.
- Load trucks as needed.
- Assist Lead Carpenters as needed.
- Check site for nails and screws at the end of each day.
- Daily clean up should be started one half hour before quitting time. Typically, at 3pm Mon Thursday and 2:30 pm on Friday
- Attend meetings as required.
- Perform each task productively.
- Maximize material usage.
- Do not leave materials where they can be damaged.
- Light demolition work as required.
- Prepare the layout of the project.
- Frame walls, floors, and roofs.
- Select materials appropriate for the work.
- Work with blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
- Work with materials such as wood, plastic, fiberglass, metal, or drywall.
- Proper use of power tools and equipment
- Join materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives.
- Work on top of ladders, scaffolding and top plates of buildings.
- Check work along the way to ensure it's up to code and specifications.
- Use levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying equipment to ensure everything is level and secure.
- Install doors and hardware.
- Install cabinets, trims and hardware, and millwork (base, casing, crown).
- Follow proper safety procedures.
- Maintain tools and equipment.
- All other duties assigned
All employees must always maintain a professional appearance. All employees must be in a Company shirt or sweatshirt / hoodie every day. Pants must be free of holes or frays.
