About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Job Specialty:** Case Management (Utilization Review) **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** 8H Days **Guaranteed Hours:** 37.5 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum 1 year of inpatient case management experience **License:** Required **Certifications:** BLS, PRI (Patient Review Instrument) Certification, SCREEN Training Certification **Must-Have:** - Prior critical care experience preferred - Some knowledge of CarePort, MCG, and/or InterQual preferred - Utilization Review experience preferred - Ability to handle at least 20 patients **Job Description:** - Expected to have knowledge of discharge planning and making referrals. - Will work on a Medical-Surgical or Telemetry unit, splitting the floor with a Social Worker. - Must function independently and work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team and patients for discharge planning. - Expected to round on the unit with physicians/team. - Positive attitude, critical thinking, and good time management skills are essential. - Utilization Review is a separate department; they handle insurance approvals and arrange transportation. - Caseload typically consists of 17-25 patients; on pilot floors, 12-17 patients. - Involves discharge to home, community, or skilled nursing facilities (SNF). - Tasks include obtaining housing, preparing shelter packets for homelessness, handling hemodialysis packets, and making KCI referrals for wound vacs. - A binder is provided as a resource. - Primarily covers inpatient areas. - Scheduling follows a Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM shift (7.5-hour shifts with a 1-hour lunch). - Occasionally may require weekend or holiday work with manager approval; caseloads differ on weekends. - Dress code is business casual or scrubs (any color except Royal Blue or Maroon; neutral colors preferred); lab coat provided. - Department-specific orientation includes 2 days of hospital orientation for EMR training and 1-2 weeks with a preceptor.
