Position Summary
The Cash Applications Specialist is responsible for the application of firm receipts with regards to client billing and miscellaneous firm funds. The specialist is also responsible for client account maintenance including but not limited to research via Elite inquiry, analysis and reapplication of funds per the request of the client.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Daily posting of cash receipts.
- Retrieving wire payment and lockbox receipts daily from the bank's electronic imaging system for posting client's account.
- Posting live checks and cas that are deposited daily in the bank.
- Posting of cash to Trust Accounts and distributing funds from these accounts by following specific rules set forth by the Accounting department.
- Perform small balance write offs as needed.
- Research and reapplication of cash postings as requested by attorneys, collectors and billers on behalf of the client.
- Research unidentified cash receipts and the processing of them.
- Work with Accounting Specialists to ensure that case is in balance at month end.
- Work with Accounting Specialists to research and correct monthly bank rec items.
- Coordinate the storing of cash receipts back up: dailiy, monthly, and yearly.
- All other cash receipt duties as assigned.

Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: One year of general accounting experince and accounts receivable experience preferred. 3E experience and law firm or professional services experience a plus. Prior experience with trust accounts a plus.
Skills: Able to work well in a multiple-priority, deadline-driven environment. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate and interact effectively with all organizational levels. Must be able to work independently and display professional manner at all times. Strong PC skills and knowledge of MS Office Suite.

- Ability to hear and understand verbal communication, including conversations and instructions, is important for effective collaboration and communication.
- Must work in office as required.
Working Conditions: Works in typical office setting and/or remotely. Occasionally called upon to work hours in excess of your normal daily schedule.
Pay Ranges: This represents the presently-anticipated low and high end of Reed Smith’s pay range for this position. Actual pay may vary based on various factors, including but not limited to location and experience.
