About the Job
The Procurement Category Manager leads managing Cost, Quality and Delivery performance within Navistar’s Fasteners and Hardware Supply Base. Responsible for Fasteners for all Navistar products including School Bus. Key activities include leading strategic sourcing activities for future programs, resourcing and management of cost reduction projects with suppliers on existing programs, supplier contract negotiations and administration, execution of comprehensive commercial agreements, and overall supplier performance management.
As a Category Manager, you will work cross functionally within Navistar interfacing with program management, quality, manufacturing, sales & marketing, risk management, finance, logistics, aftermarket parts, product pricing, supply chain and more.
• Working with the Fasteners and Hardware CMTs to develop and execute a commodity strategy that best supports and influences the overall Navistar 4.0 strategy meeting objectives for Major/Minor Programs
• Building and managing relationships with cross functional team members and management.
• Building strong strategic partnerships with suppliers to ensure that product quality, on time delivery and service levels are met.
• Leading strategic sourcing decisions for new product launches with long development cycles.
• Working with Navistar legal group to execute a variety of legal agreements such as Comprehensive Supply, Development, or Warranty Agreements, to govern commercial relationships within the supply base
• Analyzing total cost of ownership, and understanding the underlying cost drivers supporting new business award or cost reduction initiatives for best total landed cost
• Analyzing commodity spend and developing recommendations for category and savings opportunities using variety of procurement levers including competitive bidding, global sourcing, negotiation, technology, supply chain/footprint optimization, target costing, aftermarket service parts, etc.
• Constantly communicating to Supply Chain, Operations, Procurement, and Engineering customers and escalating issues when needed know who, when, and how to communicate effectively with all Stakeholders
- Bachelor's degree
- At least 8 years of supply chain, engineering or manufacturing experience
- 1 year lead experience
OR
- Master's degree
- At least 6 years of supply chain, engineering or manufacturing experience
- 1 year lead experience
OR
- At least 10 years of supply chain, engineering or manufacturing experience
- 1 year lead experience
- Qualified candidates, excluding current International Motors employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. • Advanced degree, MBA preferred
• Skilled at developing executive level presentations
• Excellent time management skills – can organize and prioritize multiple projects and meet specific deadlines
• Ability to grasp technical/mechanical concepts
• Experience/comfort working with Legal to execute commercial agreements
