Our client, a nationally renowned academic medical center and integrated healthcare delivery system, is hiring a Category Manager IT. The Category Manager IT oversees the complete source-to-contract lifecycle within the healthcare setting, applying best practices in sourcing to ensure optimal value. This role focuses on contract management and vendor relations, from individual items to the full partnership scope, prioritizing value in all goods and services acquired by the organization.
We are looking for someone with comprehensive knowledge in strategic sourcing, project management, and related systems and procedures within a professional environment. Proven experience in creating RFP/RFI documents, managing solicitation processes, and maintaining thorough documentation of procedures and decision-making and a strong background in contract development, vendor relationship management, and data analysis, with the ability to foster cross-departmental collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies in partnership with stakeholders to achieve a balanced approach to cost, quality, and outcomes.
- Conduct thorough due diligence and leverage advanced negotiation, contracting, and vendor deliverable management skills.
- Drive initiatives through spend analysis, market insights, benchmarking, and preparation of competitive procurement documents (RFP/RFI).
- Lead supplier negotiations, contract creation and management, and vendor performance assessments to maximize savings opportunities.
- Collaborate with all levels of leadership, delivering presentations and engaging in discussions on complex Supply Chain strategies and outcomes.
- Conducts thorough assessments of business needs, ensuring all functional and technical requirements are meticulously documented.
- Develops a robust communication strategy and establishes a clear communication plan to engage stakeholders effectively.
- Conducts feasibility studies through detailed investigations, analyses, and evaluations.
- Prepares and distributes routine departmental status reports to keep stakeholders informed of progress.
- Provides regular updates to team members, attends required meetings, and follows up on action items to maintain alignment.
- Adheres to established protocols, procedures, and project plans to ensure consistency and quality.
- Defines departmental goals, establishes success metrics, and tracks progress towards these objectives.
- Sets clear completion criteria and acceptance plans for each project deliverable.
- Maintains comprehensive documentation and communication records for easy access and reference.
Education:
- BA/BS preferred
