Job Title: Catholic Religious Education Coordinator
Location: Cannon, New Mexico
Travel: N/A
Duties:
• Coordinate office hours with the Catholic Chaplain.
• Coordinate a program of religious education.
• attend and participate in Catholic Religious Education trainings.
• Organize religious education weekly classes; recruit sufficient volunteer teachers,
• The Candidate shall monitor catechists to ensure they register, complete the course, and become certified per AMS policies utilizing the AMS Catechist Manual as a reference guide.
• Provide orientation for new volunteer staff members in facilities, funding, religious education policies, and available resources.
• Organize at least two volunteer teacher-training events each year, one in the fall and one in the spring.
• Schedule and organize the Catholic Summer School program in consultation with the Catholic chaplain.
• The Candidate shall attend all regular meetings of the Catholic Pastoral Council and Catholic Pastoral Staff.
• Communicate with parents to determine their support and involvement in the catechetical program.
• Develop a comprehensive calendar of all aspects of the catechetical program and coordinate this with the needs and requirements of the Catholic Chaplain.
• Prepare special program booklets, information booklets.
• Prepare and coordinate, with the Catholic Chaplain and chapel staff, all facility requests for religious education programs occurring in the chapel facilities.
• Coordinate with the Catholic Chaplain and Catholic Parish Life Coordinator on appropriate publicity of Catholic Religious Education programs.
• Prepare and coordinate After-Action Reports of religious education activities and submit to the Catholic Chaplain for review.
• Work collaboratively with other Catholic ministries such as: Knights of Columbus, Catholic Women of the Chapel, Eucharistic Ministers… to ensure an integrated approach to catechetical efforts.
• Coordinate all religious education support requirements with the Catholic Chaplain or his/her designated representative.
• Attend monthly pastoral council meetings. Meetings may be restricted due to Chapel closure.
• Maintain the Catholic RE office and storeroom in a clean, orderly, and safe manner.
• Monitor the handling of all funds received in the CRE program to ensure compliance with applicable directives.
Qualifications:
• Have recent experience as an education coordinator or teacher.
• Possess pastoral sensitivity, confidentiality, managerial experience, secretarial skills, conversational English, and have computer proficiency to include the ability to telework in case the Chapel is closed.
• The Candidate shall have experience and can demonstrate a familiarity with Catholic liturgical and religious education requirements, rites, and practices,
