The Inpatient Central Business Office Trainer is primarily responsible for all aspects of training for new employees. This position also provides on-going training to existing staff. They assist CBO Leadership with completing the job duties for current openings and new employees. This position will also be involved in special projects as assigned by the Director of CBO or VP Patient Accounting.
Responsibilities:
- Trains new IP CBO team members on the policies and procedures of the IP CBO regarding their respective positions. Provides both technical and functional on-the-job training for on-site and remote team members.
- Creates and keeps up-to-date all CBO resource material including a Procedural Manual.
- Authors a monthly newsletter and other on demand process, policy and payer updates as needed.
- Monitors and re-trains employees identified by Leadership.
- Provides continued feedback to Leadership for all employees while involved in training.
- Assists the IP CBO in maintaining the job duties of other team members when staff is absent.
- Notifies and educates staff concerning new findings, problems, changes with Medicare and other insurance carrier billing/collecting, as well as, any changes with internal policy and procedures.
- Serve as a resource for Leadership and all IP team members.
- Any additional projects as assigned by the Director of CBO or VP Patient Accounting
- Training on various OnBase, and old DOS systems, educating new employees and setting up automated keystrokes, one-on-one, and small classroom settings.
- Helping to create shortcuts for new employees maximize time, and verify the understanding of the documentation systems.
- Teaching explanations of benefits, show how to search for corresponding documents, and get all other information.
- Printing into OnBase to save email and other documents.
- Teach student employees how to use various applications like the MedHost system, OnBase, Microsoft, Change Healthcare products and others. Common Terms/Definitions (including a Medicare 101 class), MedHost, OnBase, contracts, Change Healthcare (Clearance and Assurance) and other websites that will be used on a daily basis.
- Show and explain examples, and direct new employees to understand the point and purpose of the systems.
- CBO Trainer should be able to keep training light and funny to keep employees engaged.
- Keep training interactive and collaborative.
- Slowly and deliberately work through each document to have employees understand consent forms, HIPAA documents, and other must-have billing/claims documents.
- The trainer will create physical binders/materials with explanations and sample documents.
- They will explain "THE Why" behind battling the insurance company, helping our hospitals and patients, and the positive feeling about getting an account "paid in full".
- Explanation of life of the claim.
Required
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum two years inpatient collection experience
- Mentoring and training experience. (Group and On-on-one)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral), including the ability to communicate complex issues clearly and concisely.
Preferred
- Time management skills with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and stay on schedule.
- Flexible with working hours
- Word, Excel and Zoom proficient.
