Remove castings from all spurs, pour cups and any other gated surface and properly dispose of the extra alloy that this operation produces. Ensure casting meets the customer's surface finish, visual inspection acceptance requirements. Determine whether casting meets visual standards.

JOB SUMMARY
Remove castings from all spurs, pour cups and any other gated surface and properly dispose of the extra alloy that this operation produces. Ensure casting meets the customer's surface finish, visual inspection acceptance requirements. Determine whether casting meets visual standards.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Read and understand Work Instructions and PEI's.
- Sandblast / Waterblast to provide castings with a visible uniform surface finish performed either manually, in a tumble or table blast unit.
- Read and document travelers.
- Re-blast as appropriate.
- Perform basic maintenance on equipment.
- Recognize gating and castings.
- Distinguish between scrap and usable castings.
- Use fixtures as appropriate to hold and secure molds.
- Remove gate surfaces from castings.
- Use cutting wheel as necessary.
- Properly dispose of gate surfaces.
- Clean and maintain work area.
- Demonstrate care and operation of each cut off method.
- Use all safety precautions given and explained.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education : High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Experience : At least one year of manufacturing experience.
- Certifications/Licenses : None
- Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities : Read. Write legibly. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, PEI's and Work Instructions. Basic problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Good interpersonal skills. Excellent team skills. Flexible. Safety conscious. Detail oriented.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- Shop floor
- Required PPE: Check for required PPE in areas you may be working in
- Safety Glasses: Needed in all areas of the plant.
- Steel toe shoes: Needed in all areas of the plant.
- Hearing protection
- Leather apron or appropriate Kevlar coat
- Leather gloves
- Welder's helmet
