About the Job
Sallee Horse Vans is hiring full-time CDL A OTR Team Drivers in Lexington, KY and Ocala, FL. The team will transport race and show horses between tracks and training facilities predominantly East of the Mississippi; common runs include from FL to KY, NY or Toronto, Canada and KY to NY, AR, or CA. During January - March drivers may only be out on 1- 2 round trip runs per week and be home often, however during peak season they maybe out 3-4 weeks on 12-14 runs per month. Each driver is guaranteed $700 per week during the off season as long as you are available to work, call in twice per day, and don't decline a trip.

Compensation:
- Average annual gross pay: $80,000 - $100,000 per driver
- Average weekly gross pay: $2,000 per driver
- Pay Per Load (% based on number of horses and milage) with an average of 2 loads per week (Jan – Mar) and 12-14 loads (April – Dec)
- Minimum Weekly Guaranteed Pay: $700 per week per driver during off season
- To qualify, you must be available to work, call in twice per day, not decline a trip.
- Top 25% Performers earn $100,000+
- Sign-on Bonus: $7,000 per driver. Paid over the course of your first year every 90 days pending a clean inspection/no preventable accidents or injuries
- Additional sign-on bonus if you come as a team with Class A CDL Professional/Commercial horse transportation experience
- Driver Referral Bonus: $7,000 per driver. Paid over the course of your first year every 90 days
- Performance and Safety Bonus: paid twice per year
- DOT inspection: $50 gift card
- Layover pay and company paid hotel stay if required
- Company provided vehicle for layovers for personal use
- $60 Per diem per day
- Paid via direct deposit weekly

Home Time, Route, & Schedule
- Home time: Varies with industry calendar. Drivers can expect to be out 7 – 28 days. You can stay out longer if you want. Weekend home time is not guaranteed.
- January - March drivers may only be out on 1- 2 round trip runs per week and be home often, however during peak season they maybe out 3-4 weeks on 12-14 runs per month. Dispatch will work to accommodate home time requests if possible.
- Schedule: Drivers must be available for work at all times in order to meet customer pickup and delivery scheduled. Weekend work required.
- Route: Eastern half of the Mississippi; most often FL, KY, NY, AR, OK, and Toronto
- Level of Touch: Drivers set up stalls, load and unload cargo while operating cargo handling equipment. While the location staff tends to do live loading and unloading, some loading and unloading may be required
Equipment:
- Late model Freightliner Cascadia with fleet upgrades every 4-5 years
- Automatic Transmission
- Newest tractors are fully equipped with: Refrigerators, extended cab, inverters, XM radio
- Custom built Sallee 53’ trailers
- Govern speed: 73 MPH
- Event triggered inward and outward facing cameras
- No Slip seating
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Must be at least 23 years of age
- Must have a valid Class A driver's license without any of the following restrictions: (L,Z) Air Brakes, (G) Night Driving, (O) No Semi Trailer, (K) Intrastate Only, or (M) Medical Variance
- Minimum of 1 year Regional/OTR driving experience required within the last 3 years
- Must meet Sallee Horse Vans MVR and Risk Rating qualifications
- Must meet DOT physical and medical requirements
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check
- Able to left a minimum of 50 lbs
- Requires high degree of attention, skill, and dexterity in the control of tractor-trailer and in preventing injuries, damage to property & trailer equipment
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Must be customer-focused, honest, trustworthy, and a team player who cares about their co-workers.
- Horse experience is a plus
- Having a passport to driver into Canada is a plus
- Hiring Radius: Drivers must live within 150 miles of Lexington, KY or Ocala, FL (2-3 hour commute) or be willing to relocate for this position.
