About the Job
Primarily responsible for exercising safe driving practices ensuring their safety and the safety of the public. Responsible for operating commercial motor vehicle transporting eggs from farms to the hatchery in a safe and secure manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS ::- Individual will be responsible for driving trucks to and from the farms and hatchery.
- Individual will utilize a forklift for lifting eggs in and out of the trucks.
- Individual will oversee chick bus helpers.
- Individual will ensure that the chicks are being delivered to the appropriate place, as scheduled.
- Individual will communicate with the growers, as needed.
- Individual will complete paperwork and documentation for tasks.
- Individual will occasionally assist with dumping chicks, as needed.
- Individual will assist in other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Comply with all Department of Transportation regulations.
- Perform and document pre-trip inspection (i.e., tires, oil, fuel, lights, breaks, hoses, etc.).
- Assist with loading and unloading trailer, as necessary.
- Ensure secure load before movement.
- Maintain proper documentation (i.e., equipment, time, trips, weight, etc.).
- Clean and wash truck, as necessary.
- Report truck and equipment maintenance issues to supervisor.
- Comply with all DOT safety rules and regulations, all company policies, and local, state, and federal policies, laws, and regulations.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Minimum 21 years of age.
- Valid Class A CDL with 2-year verifiable satisfactory driving record.
- Knowledge of Department of Transportation, State and Federal Laws.
- Ability to read and write legibly.
- Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate.
- Sound work ethic, honesty, and moral character.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous live poultry tractor trailer driving experience.
- Basic math functions and skills.
- Follow Department of Transportation, State and Federal laws, and company safety policies and programs.
- Wear assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

- Exposure consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
- Exposure to temperatures below 0 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
- May handle product below 0 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
- May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.
- Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
- Must handle the weight of 8 to 10 lbs repetitively, occasionally lifting, pushing, or pulling 40 to 70 lbs.
- Exposure to chemicals used in the poultry processing facility.
- Ability to work in a stationary position, on feet for the entire shift.
- Ability to work with heavy machinery for the duration of the shift.
- Ability to climb steps and to access and egress through the production environment.
