Responsibilities
- Prepare anesthesia equipment and supplies: An Anesthesia Technician is responsible for setting up and maintaining anesthesia machines, monitors, and other equipment in the operating room. They ensure that all equipment is functioning properly, calibrated, and sterile before each surgery.
- Assist in the administration of anesthesia: During surgical procedures, an Anesthesia Technician assists the anesthesiologist in administering anesthesia to patients. They help in preparing and delivering medications, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring patient safety during the procedure.
- Monitor patient vital signs: An Anesthesia Technician closely monitors the patient's vital signs during surgery, including blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, and temperature. They communicate any changes or abnormalities to the medical team and make adjustments as necessary.
- Provide emergency support: In the event of an anesthesia-related emergency, such as an adverse reaction or complication, the Anesthesia Technician must be prepared to assist the medical team. They are trained to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations, providing necessary support and equipment.
