Qualifications:
- Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Instructional Certificate in Art Education PK-12
- Out-of-State Reciprocity – Must have valid, current, comparable certificate/license in good standing for possible emergency certification
- Current Clearances – Based on PA Department of Education Requirements
- Mastery of the necessary content knowledge and skills to successfully teach assigned content area(s) and grade level(s) and deliver exceptional standards-based instruction in assigned content area(s) and grade level(s) that ensures academic growth for all students, including those with special needs
- Exceptional classroom management, organization, planning, instructional delivery, leadership, and technical skills and the ability to utilize differentiated instructional methods to engage students in positive learning experiences
- The principles, practices, and methods of grade-level education
- Subject-specific expertise
Responsibilities:
The Art Teacher will be responsible for developing in each student an interest in and the ability for creative expression in visual terms, using skills and techniques of artistic expression consistent with school guidelines; to develop aesthetic understandings and appreciations; to discover and develop talents of students in the field of art.
- Teaches knowledge and skills in art, including drawing, painting, lettering, and art history
- Provides instruction by which students develop aesthetic concepts and appreciations and the ability to make qualitative judgments about art
- Demonstrates techniques in activities such as drawing and painting
- Understands the versatility of acrylic paints: dry brushing, staining, layering, underpainting, mono printing
- Organizes storage areas and controls the use of materials, equipment, and tools to prevent loss or abuse, and to minimize the time required for distribution and collection
- Evaluate each student's performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understanding, and prepare progress reports
- Plans and presents art displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit students' work for the school and the community
- Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school and/or in self-selected professional growth activities
- Communicate with parents and school counselors on student progress
- Complies with policies, regulations, and procedures of the School; communicates effectively with parents and works collaboratively with staff
- Displays high-level professional conduct and image at all times; establishes and maintains an acceptable attendance record; and participates in extra-curricular activities and/or leadership roles outside the classroom
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, administrators, support staff, parents and students
