As a HHA you will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Providing home health aide services to the consumer in accordance with the care plan
- Personal Care: bathing, eating, dressing, hygiene, transferring/positioning, pulse and respiration, infection control, assistance with self-administration of medications
- Utilizing Universal Precautions while providing care
- Transporting consumer's to physicians appointments, shopping and/or running errands
- Household Care: Assistance with cleaning, laundry, meal preparation
- Companionship: Engaging in conversations, appointment/medication reminders, and/or interactive hobbies with the consumer
- Assisting with skilled therapy services
- Providing routine care of prosthetic and/or orthotic devices
- Establishing and maintaining constructive and cooperative interpersonal relationships with consumers
- Ensuring the quality and safe delivery of caregiver services that align with OSH, federal, and state policies and procedures as well as the Occupational Safety Health Administration and CDC recommendations.
Requirements
HHA Qualifications and Requirements:
- Must have a current D.C. Home Health Aide License
- CPR Certification
- Evidence of Tuberculosis screening that meets CDC guidelines
- Evidence of D.C. Health Certificate/Physical Examination
- Must have reliable form of transportation
- Must pass OSH's HHA competency exam with a score of 80% or greater
- Provide 2-3 reliable references
- Hoyer Lift experience is preferred, but not required
(TB test must be less than 1 year old for 1-Step PPD, 2-Step PPD, QuantiFERON Blood test or less than 5 years old for Chest X-Ray)
(D.C. Health Certificate or Physical Exam must be less than 6 months old)
