Position Summary:
The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for patient greeting, front-end operations, and general assisting of medical support in the center under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse on staff. This individual provides safe, effective, and compassionate care that is consistent with the State, Federal and Company guidelines, Company policies and procedures, and within his/her scope of practice.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Greet patients and check them in for their service. Assist with patient scheduling, rescheduling, and confirming upcoming appointments.
- Assists the centers RNs as needed performing a variety of patient care activities following company policy and CDC guidelines for infection control.
- Obtain vitals and update patient chart information
- Orders and manages supplies under the direction of the clinic manager. Receives, processes, orders and stock medication as delivered.
- Assist in the preparation for patient care activities under the supervision of RNs, practitioners, and clinic leadership.
- Clean the treatment areas, (includes chair, equipment, etc.) with the approved facility disinfectant.
- Collect, prepare, and submit ordered patient lab specimens as directed.
Additional position responsibilities:
- Assist with proper handling and storage of hazardous materials.
- Maintain confidentiality of all company and patient records. Adhere to HIPPA.
- Assist in obtaining records required for the patient’s chart, support billing, and additional front-office support.
Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent, required.
- Active Medical Assistant Certification or Registration, required.
- CPR/BLS, required.
- Clinical experience, minimum 6 months, required.
- Must have demonstrated record of and commitment to safety.
- Must possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with ability to communicate professionally and effectively with other staff members, patients and physicians.
- Must possess typing and computer skills for electronic recordkeeping.
- Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts (medical equipment and machinery). The employees may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (lifting patients, etc.), includes ability to carry and transport up to 50 pounds up to 60 feet. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color differentiation, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk and talk, hear and smell.
Requires excellent visual acuity and manual dexterity. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. He/she is frequently required to sit; stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl.
The employee may be required to use safety equipment, PPE (personal protective equipment) that may include but not be limited to face shield or goggles, non-slip shoes, gloves, mask, and other protective garments and equipment.
