About the Job
We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team of professionals at Master Center for Addiction Medicine who are providing outpatient treatment to persons with substance use disorders as part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary treatment team. We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant for our Norfolk, Virginia office that can also provide assistance to our Hampton location.
Master Center for Addiction Medicine is a private, outpatient addiction medicine treatment center based in Richmond, Virginia, and we have additional locations in Gloucester, Hampton, Norfolk, Chesterfield, Tappahannock, Kilmarnock, West Point, and Harrisonburg Virginia. Our approach to addiction is comprehensive, evidence-based and individualized drawing on every tool that has been proven effective: medical treatment, education, psychiatry, professional counseling, testing/monitoring and peer support services. Position Qualifications:
- Medical Assistant Certification or graduation from accredited program
- CPR/First Aid Certification preferred
- Experience with bloodwork and injections preferred
- Experience providing direct patient care
- Two years' experience as a Medical Assistant highly preferred
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
Creates healthy interpersonal interactions with patients.
- Performs new patient intakes, reviews medical history and medication changes, documents vital signs and breathalyzer for all patient visits including via telehealth
- Communicating with medical providers
- Working with recovery coaches and external labs to facilitate lab and bloodwork requests from providers
- Working with recovery coaches to collect, document, and report Urinary Drug Screen and ETOH breathalyzer/mouth swabs
- Assisting the coaches as needed in documenting patient PHI into electronic medical record
- Provide support to Norfolk and Hampton locations (travel required)
- Acts as liaison, advocate, and coordinator for patients receiving services, collaborating with Master Center’s Healthcare Navigators when needed
- Responsible for monitoring requests for medical records and ensuring compliance with 42 CFR and HIPAA standards
- Assists with acquiring pre-authorizations of medication refills per pharmacy/insurance request
- Complies with all rules, regulations, and policies of the organization.
- Other duties as assigned
This position is Monday through Friday 8AM to 5PM
This position is for Norfolk, VA but also provides support to the Hampton, VA location.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to $18.00 per hour

All Master Center Employees are required to be fully vaccinated (all recommended doses). Anyone with a qualifying reason not to get vaccinated must submit weekly PCR testing.
