A-Line Staffing is now hiring a Certified Medical Assistant in Morris Plains, NJ. The Certified Medical Assistant would be working for a Major Healthcare System and has career growth potential.
Highlights:
- This will be a 12-week contract starting 12/09 with potential to extend
- Pay Range: $19-$21 Hourly (Based on experience)
Schedule: 3 days a week, Mon 8am – 5pm, Tues 8:30am – 5pm and Friday 12pm – 4:30pm (23 guaranteed hours)
Responsibilities:
- The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in providing direct patient care.
- Greeting and preparing for patients, completing patient intake into EPIC system, maintaining exam rooms including cleaning and keeping inventory/ordering supplies, and handling patient prescriptions and pre-authorizations for diagnostic testing/procedures as well as other duties typical of a physician practice.
- The CMA functions under the direct supervision and authority of the physician when determining competencies and performing clinical tasks during patient care; Some of these functions include initial patient assessments and obtaining patient medical histories. Specific to the Pain Center the assessment may include pain inventories, opioid risk assessments, and other chronic pain patient specific assessments.
- The CMA administers medications and immunizations, obtains vital signs, maintains an inventory of appropriate supplies, ensures safe and efficient patient flow, tracks high-risk referrals and lab tests, facilitates safe transitions of care, organizes the practice environment to assure patient safety and quality health outcomes, and contributes to designated quality measures.
- Billing/Administrative: Assists physicians and clinical staff as requested with faxes, filing, phone calls, charts, documents, appropriate diagnostic ordering forms, etc.
- At the end of the day, review EPIC to verify that every scheduled patient’s chart has been completed.
- Communicates with insurance carriers to obtain authorizations for procedures and pharmaceuticals.
- Follows up on referrals. Handles patient’s requests for medical information, copies of medical records, refills, and test results, etc. as instructed by the physician.
- During times of low census in the department will be asked to cross cover in other departments.
Certified Medical AssistantRequirements:
- Medical Assistant certification through AAMA, NCCT, AMT or NHA
- Prior medical office experience required
- 1 year of EPIC experience
- Pain Management experience HIGHLY preferred!
