Full job description
Under the supervision and guidance of a licensed nurse (RN or LPN), the CNA is responsible for assisting with direct residents/patient care within the scope of their practice as well as other work on the unit that supports the patient environment. The CNA assists staff to ensure optimal patient care and assists the healthcare team in providing and maintaining a clean, safe, and attractive environment for residents. Work will include components of direct patient care, nutrition, observation, documentation, transportation of patients and supplies, hygiene, and general maintenance of the residents/patient’s environment. We are looking for a detail-oriented, patient-focused individual with excellent bedside manner.
Responsibilities
- Record patient medical history accurately.
- Participate in collecting accurate data on residents, including vital signs, weights and measurements, intake and output, food consumption, and other information as assigned.
- Provide personal care (grooming, bathing, dressing, oral care, etc.) for residents.
- Observe residents carefully and report changes in condition to Charge Nurse.
- Ambulate and transfer residents, utilizing appropriate assistive devices and body mechanics.
- Routinely turn and position residents as necessary.
- Provide emotional and psychological support when needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Valid Illinois certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
- Experience in long-term care or healthcare setting preferred.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology and procedures.
- Ability to lift and move patients safely using proper body mechanics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Ability to arrive on time to all scheduled shifts.
- Must have the ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job.
- Detail-oriented with strong organization and prioritization skills.
