The Position:
The Certified Nursing Assistant is a paraprofessional member of the interdisciplinary group who works under the supervision of a registered nurse and performs various services for a patient as necessary to meet the patient's personal needs and to promote comfort. The hospice aide is responsible for observing the patient, reporting these observations, and documenting observations and care performed. The Certified Nursing Assistant will be assigned in a manner that promotes quality, continuity, and safety of a patient's care.
The Requirements:
- Meets the training requirements of the State.
- Must meet one of the following training requirements; have a current nursing assistant certification and have successfully completed a Home Health Aide competency evaluation; or have successfully completed a Home Health Aide training program and have successfully completed a competency evaluation.
- Must exhibit maturity, a sympathetic attitude toward the patient, the ability to provide care to the terminal patient, and the ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job.
- Must have the ability to read, write, and carry out directions promptly and accurately.
- Primarily frequent in nature with exerting up to fifty pounds of force occasionally, and/or up-to twenty pounds of force frequently, and/or up-to ten pounds of force constantly to move objects: reaching, lifting, carrying, handling, walking, sitting, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, and twisting. Position may require pushing and pulling up to 300 lbs.
