MASAC (Massachusetts Alcohol and Substance Abuse Center) is a Section 35 treatment center located in the beautiful Myles Standish State Forest in Plymouth, MA. This role is working with individuals with substance use disorders.
How you make a difference:
The Certified Nursing Assistant provides basic and specialized nursing care functions in accordance with local and regulatory policies and procedures, under the supervision of a licensed nurse. They collaborate with other members of the healthcare team and custody officers in a correctional setting to plan and implement patient care activities. Additionally, they float between units after completing a general orientation to ensure adequate nursing staff for patient care areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and document patient care activities accurately.
- Record and report vital signs and patient data in a timely and accurate manner, and report any abnormal vital signs to the licensed nurse immediately.
- Complete all assigned duties, prioritize work flow, and attend meetings and training sessions as directed by the nursing supervisor.
- Demonstrate professional behavior and responsibility, maintain patient and employee confidentiality, and ensure safe and compassionate patient care.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising nurse, including organizing and tracking medical supplies and equipment and orienting new staff members to the unit.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of training course for Nursing Assistants.
Experience
- Work requires level of knowledge of basic patient care methods, procedures, and techniques.
- Ability to handle a variety of simple tasks that are routine in nature, while keeping work flowing in an orderly manner.
- Must have the ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
- Must be able to pass and maintain clearance for a Public Trust Position, if working with specific patients.
- Ability to express thoughts logically, in English, in both written and verbal form.
- Ability to use computers and the typical software such as Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and various database systems.
Licenses/Certifications
- Current certification in the state of practice is required.
