Position Purpose

The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) shall be responsible for providing, under the direction of an Occupational Therapist, therapeutic interventions in an interdisciplinary environment consistent with the position’s qualifications, professional practices and ethical standards.

Key Responsibilities
With each patient encounter, the incumbent shall use AIDET, perform hand hygiene, assists with positioning patient for comfort and pain management, and performs environment check prior to leaving patient’s room and/or maintains a clean and organized environment. • Review the Occupational Therapy evaluation and Plan of Care and discuss with supervising Occupational Therapist as necessary • Provide appropriate therapeutic interventions as directed by the Occupational Therapist • Evaluate patient response to treatment and modify interventions as necessary • Document the course of patient care including progress made toward goals. Discuss with supervising Occupational Therapist the continuing need for treatment • Provide patient and/or family education to help achieve goals • Assists with orientation of new staff as requested • Meets KHI’s requirements for skills competency and safety • Participate in continuing education/professional development activities • Assists with the Occupational Therapy Assistant student program • Participate in staff meetings, client relation, and marketing activities • Complete billing by the end of each shift, is accurate, and meets reasonable and necessary requirements, and is justified in the documentation
Qualifications
- Education: Associate Degree through an OTA program
- Licensure: Current OTA through the Arizona State Board of Occupational Therapy
- Certification: BLS through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross Experience: Education/experience in working with an adult and geriatric population is necessary
Preferences Education/experience serving people with physical disabilities is desirable.
