SpiriTrust Lutheran is now hiring a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) for our Village at Luther Ridge in Chambersburg, PA. This position is per diem, or as needed.
Basic Qualifications
Education/Training: Graduate of an accredited therapy program, current occupational therapy assistant state license.
Skill(s): Excellent verbal and written communication, service orientation, active listening.
Experience: Minimum 1 year of related experience preferred.
General Responsibilities
Assists in providing rehabilitative services to persons with mental, physical, emotional, or developmental impairments.
Essential Duties

- Interacts with residents, clients, staff, and the general public in ways that demonstrate the agency’s commitment to courtesy, service, and hospitality befitting a church related organization.
- Other duties as assigned by my supervisor, necessary for the efficient operation of the department/facility.
- Works under the direction of occupational therapists to plan, implement, or administer programs that restore or enhance performance in individuals with functional impairments.
- Monitors patients' performance in therapy activities and provides encouragement.
- Assists in instructing patients and families in home programs, basic living skills, or the care and use of adaptive equipment.
- Observes and records patients' progress, attitudes, and behavior and maintains this information in client records.
- Assists occupational therapists with implementing treatment plans.
- Reports to supervisors on patients' progress, attitudes, and behavior.
- Performs clerical duties.
- Abides by the current laws and organizational standards and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of sexual harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the work place.
- Identifies, prevents, and reports actual or suspected abuse, neglect, exploitation, and improper use of chemical and physical restraints, in accordance with standards.
- Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all Agency standards, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and compliance with all regulatory requirements, i.e., HIPAA, OSHA, etc.
- Abides by and supports the organization’s code of conduct by exhibiting behavior that is set forth in the code of conduct. Performs duties in accordance with the code of conduct and completes annual compliance training.
- Reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested, or according to an established schedule; compiles information as necessary or as directed and provides data to appropriate personnel.
- Completes educational requirements as mandated by state and federal agencies and to maintain competencies.
