Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant -COTA

OTA Duties Include:
- OTA will work as part of the therapy team and under the guidance of an OT
- OTA will select therapy activities to fit Residents' needs and capabilities.
- OTA will assist Residents in carrying out daily activities.
- OTA will monitor Residents' performance in therapy activities, providing encouragement.
- OTA will teach Residents how to use special equipment to assist with daily function.
- OTA will work in collaboration with the OT to establish a rehabilitation plan.
- OTA will supervise Residents' activities to ensure they are done properly.
- OTA will report the Resident's progress to the OT.
- OTA will handle administrative and clerical tasks for therapy team.
OTA Requirements Include:
- A graduate of an accredited OTA Program
- Current OTA License
- Experience in long-term-care settings preferred

COTA Duties Include: COTA will work as part of the Therapy Team under the guidance of OT.
COTA will measure and record Residents function, ADLs, and self-care training.
COTA will observe Residents and write progress reports.
COTA will assist Residents in carrying out specific exercises.
COTA will treat Residents with varieties of techniques, like self-care and ADL training.
COTA will help Residents use necessary equipment and devices.
COTA will educate Residents on how to exercise properly to strengthen muscle and improve ADLs.
COTA will maintain Residents’ confidence by keeping information confidential.
COTA will Comply with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements.
COTA contributes to the entire team’s effort and goals.
COTA Requirements Include:
A graduate of an accredited COTA Program
Current PA COTA License
Experience in long-term-care settings preferred.
