The In-House Therapy Team at Shore Gardens Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, a premier long term skilled nursing facility located in Ocean County, New Jersey is actively looking for a caring, dedicated Certified Occupational therapist Assistant to provide quality care to its residents. The successful candidate will offer effective and client-centered services that will enable people to confidently and independently carry out everyday tasks and activities. The successful candidate will have a “hands on” perspective and approach, be able to adapt the environment and therapies to fit the needs of the patient.

Responsibilities

·         Follow plan of treatment put in place by Supervising OT

·         Apply interventions to maximize safety and performance in activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL)

·         Teach patients new ways of approaching tasks and educate them on how to break down activities into achievable components

·         Recommend adaptive equipment and train in its use

·         Guide and educate family members and caregivers

·         Observe, note, and report on progress of long- and short-term treatment goals

·         Collect data and document processes followed

·         Collaborate with Supervising OT on progression of plan of treatment

Requirements:

·         1 Year working experience as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant preferred, but new grads considered.

·         Hands-on experience with Net Health (Rehab Optima) preferred

·         Familiarity with ADLs evaluation tools

·         Ability to manage patients with different types of personalities

·         Current knowledge of treatment practices per discipline and drive to continually learn and grow in the profession

·         Professional behavior

·         Excellent interpersonal communication skills

·         Valid NJ license.
