Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA)
Location: San Jose, CA
Virtus Healthcare Staffing is looking for a dedicated Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to join our partner hospital in San Jose, CA. In this role, you will work under the supervision of an occupational therapist to provide vital rehabilitative services to patients, focusing on maximizing their independence and improving their ability to perform daily activities.
Essential Job Duties:
- Implement Treatment Plans: Administer patient treatment programs as directed by the occupational therapist.
- Assessment Assistance: Assist the occupational therapist in gathering data on vital signs, range of motion, and strength testing.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with other rehabilitation team members to implement activities and programs tailored to each patient's treatment plan.
- Scheduling & Billing: Manage the scheduling of patient treatments, clinical visits, and associated billing procedures.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure proper upkeep and maintenance of occupational therapy equipment.
- Therapy Delivery & Documentation: Deliver and meticulously document occupational therapy interventions following the established care plans, focusing on improving muscle re-education, perceptual-motor and cognitive function, balance, endurance, and other factors impacting patients' ability to perform daily activities independently.
Job Requirements:
- Education: Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant from an accredited program.
- Foreign Degree Equivalency: The qualifying Occupational Therapy Assistant Degree earned outside the US must be evaluated to the US equivalent to a Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant.
- Licensure: Valid California Occupational Therapy Assistant License, or proof of License eligibility.
- Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of Occupational Therapy Assistant experience in a clinical setting with a frail or elderly population.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of occupational therapy principles and techniques, particularly those relevant to treating frail and elderly patients with complex needs.
- Other: Reliable means of transportation.
