We are hiring Certified Pharmacy Technicians for our Orlando, Florida location. The candidate must meet state requirements to work as a Certified Pharmacy Technician, such as minimum age, qualification, registration, certification, and/or licensure when required by the State Board of Pharmacy. Must hold an active/valid national certification certificate issued by PTCB (PTCE) or NHA (ExCPT).
We are hiring for the following shifts:
- 1st shift – must be available to work between the hours of 8am to 6pm (rotating Saturdays from hours 9am to 7pm)
- 2nd shift - must be available to work between the hours of 10am to 9pm (rotating Saturdays from hours 9am to 7pm)
Job Duties include:
Maintains quality, accuracy, and integrity of inventory (for example, pharmaceuticals, supplies) by ensuring adherence to and documentation of inventory control procedures (for example, product strategies, product description discrepancies); auditing and testing pill cell performance per prescribed schedule and procedures; conducting process audits and formulating corrective actions; managing pill cell information database; troubleshooting issues with pill cell performance; identifying and properly discarding hazardous waste; processing recalled and expired pharmaceuticals; and disposing or processing return of outdated stock for credit.
Enters prescription data into pharmacy software by reading the prescription; translating prescription information into corresponding system codes; transcribing appropriate prescription data (for example, written date, drug name, strength, directions for use, refills, name of prescribing physician, prescriber DEA number); and creating or modifying patient/customer records.
Promotes and maintains the pharmacy's professional reputation and delivers pharmacy products and services to patients in accordance with local, state, and federal laws and corporate policies and procedures by assisting the pharmacist in the prescription fulfillment process; stocking and rotating merchandise and supplies from distribution centers and suppliers; handling claims and returns; completing, maintaining, and securing paperwork, forms, and other required documentation; and maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
Complies with Medicare and Medicaid policies and procedures by implementing and adhering to rules and regulations for processing orders; keeping up-to-date on policy changes and new regulations; researching information to accurately process Medicare orders to ensure compliance; and interpreting and documenting Medicare audit documents.
Ensures fulfillment of pharmacy prescriptions in a Home Delivery/Specialty pharmacy by identifying and selecting pharmaceutical product and quantity for prescription orders; verifying the size and strength of the product before processing order; verifying display for pack and quantity; counting, pouring, measuring, or weighing medication tablets, liquids, and creams; mixing or reconstituting medications as needed; entering expiration date and lot numbers; labeling prescriptions; and preparing packages and distributing medications.
Monitors and resolves problems in the prescription fulfillment process by utilizing knowledge of pharmacy processing procedures to determine root cause of issues (for example, systems, insurance, stock); processing information for third-party insurance claims; coordinating with insurance companies to resolve rejections; interpreting third-party return messages, reject codes, and insurance problem descriptions; reprocessing third-party claims using the correct procedures to resolve issues; rescanning illegible images; alerting patients to inventory that is out of stock, partial fills, and the need for physician authorizations on refills; coordinating with information technology (IT) support to resolve systems issues using screen shots of issues and reports; and identifying situations requiring pharmacist's action and resolution.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Meets state requirements to work as a Pharmacy Technician, such as minimum age, qualification, registration, certification,and/or licensure when required by the State Board of Pharmacy. Holds an active/valid national certification certificate issued by PTCB (PTCE) or NHA (ExCPT).
