Job Description:
The Certified Physical Therapist functions independently and consistently in the delivery of quality care to physical therapy patients in accordance with individual patient needs, physician orders, department policies and procedures, and standards of practice. Evaluates patients, plans and implements treatment programs, and documents all treatment accurately. Works in conjunction with other members of the health care team to ensure patient needs are met and, upon request of Rehab Management, may be called upon into a leadership role for issues related to mentoring or program development. Educates patients and families. Provides care to patients of varying ages with age related needs.
Required Skills:
Knowledge of physical therapy principles and procedures.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Good problem-solving ability in order to determine the best methods to address patient problems.
Required Experience:
Work Experience:
Three years of Physical Therapy experience required.
License/Registration/Certification:
Current license as a Physical Therapist in the state of Texas.
Certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) in Cardiovascular and Pulmonary, Clinical Electrophysiology, Geriatrics, Neurology, Oncology, Orthopaedics, Pediatrics, Sports, or Women’s Health; or
Certified Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT); or Certified Stroke Rehabilitation Specialist (PRPC); or Pelvic Rehabilitation Practioner Certification (PRPC); or Certified Stroke Rehabilitation Specialist (CSRS); or Certified Lymphadema Therapist (CLT); or Certified Wound Specialist (CSW) required.
Current CPR required.
Education and Training:
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy, or equivalent education if trained outside of U.S required.
Completion of appropriate Clinical Instructor (CI) course; or completed within three months of hire.
Completion of National Databases of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) for Pressure Treatment Training; or completed within three months of hire.
