Surgery Department (OR/CVOR; Operating Room) Certified Surgical Technician (CST)
Our Baxter Health OR/CVOR has 13 operating rooms and averages 650 cases per month. Our cases include General Surgery, Orthopedics, Neurological, Cardiovascular, Plastics, Ear Nose Throat (ENT), Urology and Gynecological (GYN) procedures. We have a highly skilled, dedicated team of patient advocates that work in an interdisciplinary team environment. We support professional advancement through certification and education.
Position Highlights:
- Education Opportunities: Continue to advance you and your families’ education, utilizing Baxter Health Foundation Scholarships and certification support.
- Technology: Davinci Surgical Robot; Navigational Spinal and ENT surgery; Hybrid OR for advanced vascular procedures, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in operations, under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel.
- May help set up operating room, prepare and transport patients for surgery, adjust lights and equipment, pass instruments and other supplies to surgeons and surgeon's assistants, hold retractors, cut sutures, and help count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments.
- Responsible for direct patient care of assigned patients in the perioperative unit.
- Must be proficient in a wide variety of high level surgical technologist skills.
- Adhere to all standards of perioperative care and promoting a team effort among co-workers.
- Collaborate with all members of the health care team with a focus on promoting evidence based care within a healing culture for the patient population served and their families.
Job Requirements:
- Education: Completion of accredited surgical technologist program
- Licensure: Surgical Technologist Certification through the Association of Surgical Technologist
- Certifications: BLS required.
